This message announces the availability of Scheme release scm-5f1.

SCM conforms to Revised^5 Report on the Algorithmic Language Scheme
and the IEEE P1178 specification.  SCM is written in C and runs under
Amiga, Atari-ST, MacOS, MS-DOS, OS/2, NOS/VE, Unicos, VMS, Windows,
Unix, and similar systems.

SCM is free software and part of the GNU project.  It is released
under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).

scm-5f1 news:

scm-5f1 is a significant release.  Details at

  * Implementation is fully 64-bit on 64-bit CPUs.
  * Writing and reading floating-point numbers now fully accurate
    (writing uses the minimum number of mantissa digits) using new
    algorithms: <http://people.csail.mit.edu/jaffer/III/EZFPRW>
  * Internal defines now have letrec* semantics (compatible with R5RS).
  * Subrs integer-log and round-quotient added.
  * Much documentation has been reorganized and improved.
  * r4rstest.scm (test-inexact-printing): Added float-rw-range-test to
    check that all powers of 10 in the range of IEEE doubles are
    read-write-invariant and their strings are short.
