That's not quite right.  The 30-second stat calculation comes from a
bug-fix in recent versions.  The old kind of stat calculation was
actually even slower in non-fastbuild databases.

So, if your DB stats take too long, upgrade to the latest CVS version.

By the way, I've killed a couple of stack overflow bugs, though there
are probably some more I've missed.
