I'm not sure about others but I for one do appreciate them because at times i 
check my own meta page on the sks pool status page and if i see peers linked to 
me that are down and have not updated their status' in some time, i do consider 
removing them from my peer list unless they respond to my request for a status 
update that i send them directly.

but from my perspective it doesn't really pose a tech issue aside from a lot of 
error lines for recon update attempts in your sks logs i suppose.
