In the setup I described, inside gnome-session, there is absolutely no 
problem to mix speech and other Audio as the user PulseAudio daemon 
takes care of that. The only case when it doesn't work is when the user 
switches to the text console, but this is a far minor issue and it is 
resulting from the design of PulseAudio. It is definitely better with 
this small limitation than when there would be no speech at all possible.

Given the current state of things, I see that both blind and seeing 
users need to use the text console from time to time, so they simply 
have to cope with the difficulties. It is not their choice how difficult 
we make it for them to set up a solution.

Yes, I understand. I think that would be a good solution to the problem 
given the constraints you mentioned. That would be really nice, but the 
package should be available soon.
