Not only gtk, in chromium or brave or another browsers chromium based i can discover the same behaviour. Really, with spd-say "$(echo first line; echo second line; echo third line;) speech sounds great.

How did you test?

spd-say "$(echo hello ; echo world)"

simply says "hello world", as I would expect.
But again, see my other mail: the thread I could find on orca-list is
not saying that there's a bug in speechd, it's saying that the issue is
between orca and gtk.
