What I have done to fix drop shadows is distill pdfs to acrobat 5 first.
Then all of my problems go away. I'm not sure how to do this without
distilling. Is there any documentation on what versions of
pdf's/features work and don't work well with pdf2swf? Also knowing the
best version of the pdf standard to use would help.

Subject: [Swftools-common] Pdf2SWF and drop shadows
Hi there,
I find that converting pdf 2 swf leads to problems when the pdf contains
drop shadows.
Drop shadows result in strange boxes with color fills.
Does anyone know of any settings I could use to prevent this?
Regards,
Olaf
