You don't need to install to test it.
Can you just do:
$ cd swftools-0.9.1
$ ./configure
$ make
$ src/pdf2swf /path/to/3348.pdf
It will create a 3348.swf in the current directory.
Can you send the resulting swf.
I may be wrong, but the one that you made available
seems to be created, at very best, with swftools 0.8.1
