I'm not quite sure what you mean with "implement the to do
list". There comes a little README with the package that gives a
shot overview over the usage of synaptic. Please note that you have to
run it as root. The easiest way should be to use the provided gnome
desktop link that does a "xsu -e -u root -c /usr/sbin/synaptic". xsu
will ask you for the root-pw then (maybe you have to change
"/usr/sbin/synaptic" to "/usr/local/sbin/synaptic").
