No, it's not. You need a high drawing
thoughtput for the TeXmacs interactive
displays & redisplays.

You could try using mathml for rendering.

You probably can't : don't forget that you need
interactive **editing**, not just display. It turns
the thing to something more complex.

The way drawing is implemented currently is
by means of a low-level and fast drawing library
just built on top of X (drawing lines, fonts, curves,
etc.). Having a higher-level display language
would probably be more a burden than a help.

Also, TeXmacs is quite usable with nx and broadband, so maybe
something could be done with ajax as well.

It's true that something could perhaps be done. But
whatever these Google people say, I know pretty well
that the BIG problem with Ajax, Web 2.0, and the like
is that as a whole, it is absolutely not portable at all : you
want to do one application, but you still need to do as much
hacks as there are different browsers where you want your
application being able to run.

Of course, one can think that this problem will be
solved at some point in the future. But currently,
one cannot say it is solved.
