[Texmacs-dev] style-only

I'm trying to work out what style-only and style-only* do because the man page is not clear.

For fun, paste this into a style sheet in source mode:

<style-only|<inactive*|<assign|a|cat>>>

it comes out as:

<src-regular|<mark|<arg|x|1|0|0>|<inline-tag|assign|<src-var|<arg|x|1|0|0|0>>|<src-regular|<arg|x|1|0|0|1>>>>>
but in non-src mode it comes out as:

<assign|s|cat>

Interestingly, <style-only*|<inactive*|...>> can give code in a style sheet the same inactive rendering in src or non-src mode and still allow it to work when imported into a document. Normal use of <inactive*|...> would render the inactive tag in src mode.
e.g.

<style-only*|<inactive*|<assign|pog|<macro|a|[<arg|a>]>>>>
