[ToutDoux-list] autogen errors - debian

I am trying to get Toutdoux to configure and compile on a Debian (SID -
ie. unstable distribution) system.
I got the sources from the CVS server via the instructions at:

http://www.gnu.org/software/toutdoux/en/

executing ./autogen.sh succeeds until
checking for Perl... yes
checking for Guile... configure: error: Guile interpreter not found

I have a guile interpreter in /usr/bin/guile.

Is  there  a way to get autogen.sh to behave?
