Hi,
I have very busy mailserver so tons of logs and sometimes I need to grep out
all entries about one connection. Right now I can grep basing only on PID
number which is not unique.
That's why I'm proposing one change - add unique ID for each log line entry.
For example exim SMTP does that in this way:
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M <= address@hidden H=smtp.xyz.pl
(xxy.pl) [195.245.xx.xx] U=exim P=esmtp S=1174
address@hidden
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M => barrakuda <address@hidden> R=localuser
T=local_delivery
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M => | /var/admin/bin/smsinfo.pl 12121212
(address@hidden) <address@hidden> R=userforward T=address_pipe
2004-03-14 02:30:26 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M Completed
and I can easily grep out these entries basing on 1B2KSQ-0006m7-7M.
I can cook up patch adding such behaviour to tpop3d if it's going to be
accepted. Comments?
