Indeed.
Nevertheless, I COULD reproduce the problem, but ONLY on my old HP-UX
10.20 workstation @work. The OP runs HP-UX 11.xx, so I guess there is
a coincidence. But unfortunately I haven't had the time for deeper
investigation yet.
