find-file syntax, there was no answer, so I added by public key to
     /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
  2. Now, I am told Host 'remotedomain.com' looks like a remote host,

Could you, please, set tramp-verbose to 6, and rerun the test?
Afterwards, I would like to see the contents of Tramp's debug buffer as
well as the settings of tramp-default-host, tramp-default-method,
tramp-default-method-alist, tramp-default-proxies-alist,
tramp-default-user, tramp-default-user-alist.

Best regards, Michael.
I followed your earlier suggestion:

Nope. You make an ssh connection to address@hidden; so you must
put your public key in ~ubuntu/.ssh/authorized_keys.

And everything is working perfectly.

Thank you, Michael.
