Follow-up Comment #1, bug #41703 (project varnamproject):
This is fixed when typing over a selection. But not fixed for the controls
which has a placeholder text and gets cleared when the text becomes non-empty.
Current implementation will enter an empty string to indicate the underlying
text to clear the current selection.
Leaving this open to track the placeholder text issue.
