Hi, all!

I suggest a clarification of the Debian GNU/Hurd Installation Web Page at http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-install.

Currently, the text of the page is:

Installation

Please refer to the Hurd Installation Guide <http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/install.html> for information how to install Debian GNU/Hurd. Please also refer to the unofficial Debian GNU/Hurd installation CD-ROMs <http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-cd> for information how to install Debian GNU/Hurd from the unofficial CD-ROMs.

If you install Debian GNU/Hurd from the CD's, a lot of what's detailed in the Hurd Installation Guide is done for you automatically. When I installed the Hurd from the H1 CDs, I found the Hurd Installation Guide was useful mostly as reference material. Wouldn't this be clearer if Debian's install page read something like:

Installation

Please refer to the unofficial Debian GNU/Hurd installation CD-ROMs <http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-cd> for information how to install Debian GNU/Hurd from the unofficial CD-ROMs. This is the simplest way to install a GNU/Hurd system.

There is also the Hurd Installation Guide <http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/install.html>, which explains how to install Debian GNU/Hurd without using the unofficial CD-ROMs. This method of installation is more complex, and requires more work to be done manually. This guide is excellect reference material, however, for those installing Debian GNU/Hurd from CD-ROM, as it explains the parts installation process taken care of by the Debian CD-ROMS, and will help you understand your new Debian GNU/Hurd system.
