   VHDL is that and has been around longer

   V-Hardware Descriptive Language

   Wher the V is shortened from VHSIC= Very-High-Speed Integrated Circuit

I don't see the recursion in VHDL, it is just a abberviation.

VHDL
 ==>
V-Hardware Descriptive Language
 ==> { expansion of V }
VHSIC-Hardware Descriptive Language
 ==> { expansion of VHSIC }
Very-High-Speed Integrated Circuit-Hardware Descriptive Language

Compare this with GNU:

GNU
 ==>
GNU's Not Unix
 ==>
GNU's Not Unix's Not Unix
 ==>
GNU's Not Unix's Not Unix's Not Unix
==>
 ...

And the Hurd:

HURD
 ==>
HIRD of Unix Replacing Deamons
 ==>
HURD of Interfaces Representing Depth of Unix Replacing Deamons
 ==>
HIRD of Unix Replacing Deamons of Interfaces Representing Depth of Unix
Replacing Deamons
 ==>
...

   Thus Hurd is not the first software to be named by a pair of
   mutually recursive acronyms.

Yes it is.
