All programs closing when xbindkeys closes

Hello,

I am trying to make it so that I can terminate xbindkeys without all the
programs I launch with it closing too. I tried putting nohup in front 
of these
commands, which words if I launch a program like that in the terminal 
and then
close the terminal. If I try that in .xbindkeysrc however, killing 
xbindkeys
still closes all these programs. Is this intended behaviour? Is there a 
way I
can work around it?
