hmm. this sounds like an multiple-device X-server. IIRC we cant assume
evry Xserver to have an readable framebuffer. So either an separate
framebuffer could be created (and also closed) at runtime or an separate
layer which (an kind of output-proxy) sends the output operations to 
multiple servers.

btw: is there an headless X server which can connect itself as client 
to other Xservers and switch its client's windows to it.
this could operate (on user's side) just like VNC, but window based
and with all X features (i.e. Xselection, ...)
