I shouldn't have done that.
It was a knee-jerk reaction to seeing the warning from Perl about `@'
in a double-quoted string, as a result of my running `make something'.
Of course, now, I am unable to reproduce it.

Sorry.
If only I'd looked at how the code is actually used...
