I agree, but just do not want to trigger any war on this topic, so I
didn't comment on this.  It turns out Marc is working 10 meters from
me (which, even in American units, is very little), so his pressure is
higher than that from other people :)

I paid more attention to this issue because in the past, I knew how to
have GNU M4 dump core with m4_format.  I don't remember whether it's
fixed in current releases.  So, independently of BSD M4, I agreed with
Marc that format is not a nice person.

I meant it to bit worth as much as I consider the request itself :)
I just want to forward the request.  I do not subscribe to it.
