FWIW: IANAL nor US citizen, but AFAIK, this does not match US legal
requirements. 

Other projects (e.g. gcc) are very restrictive about this issue, because
(AFAICT) they had been legally attacked for having added years to
copyright notices without having changed anything on the _published_
source code.

IIRC, there even is a corresponding note on this topic somewhere on
gnu.org.

Anyway, you're the responsible person ... :-)
