I assume myconfig.h is not your AM_CONFIG_HEADER.  You might need to add
myconfig.h to BUILT_SOURCES

        BUILT_SOURCES = myconfig.h

This should keep it out of the "make dist", I think.  I don't know about
the distcheck -- maybe I should use "make distcheck" more often :(
