There is a fix for this bug in CVS.  Automake 1.9.1 will update
these files on such incantation.
Okay that's great. If anyone can think of a work around I would love to hear it as creating a dependency on a later version of Automake isn't particularly practical right now. I guess I'm going to have to check these files into cvs though as the workaround.
