I downloaded and tried to install Autoconf on HP-UX but the "make check" stage
failed. To be honest, so many tests failed that I think I must have missed out
a fundamental step. However, the error log mentions "can't allocate memory"
quite a lot, so maybe my computer isn't up to it? I've attached the log file
that the process told me to, and also a typescript of my session. I'd be
grateful if someone could glance at them and see if I've done something wrong.

Some techie details: I'm running HP-UX 10.20 on an HP9000 K360 with a single
processor and 448MB Ram. I have previously successfully compiled and installed
GCC, Java jdk, Apache/SSL and various GNU utilities. I did have problems with
SSL where my computer couldn't handle "gcc -O3 ..." but changing it to "gcc -O1
..." fixed it. I don't know if that's relevant.

I hope someone can help, and thank you very much.

Angus Condy.
