[GNU Autoconf 2.57] testsuite: 40 174 failed

Should've been simple. I'm updating my system -- had to
build autoconf once using ./configure, alias autoconf to
the local copy then run ./configure --prefix=blah. Neither
gmake nor the configure seemed unhappy.
