Gnus/5.090015 (Oort Gnus v0.15) Emacs/21.2 |
| On recent builds, I've had failures like this on two systems:
| /usr/local/bin/autom4te: unrecognized option `--cache=autom4te.cache'
| Try `/usr/local/bin/autom4te --help' for more information.
| configure:1736: $? = 1
| configure:1736: error: Autoconf 2.54 or better is required.
| Is it installed? Is it in your PATH? (try running `autoconf
--version')
| Is it working? See also config.log for error messages before this
one.
|
| The version is displayed as:
|
| /usr/local/bin/autom4te --version
| autom4te (GNU Autoconf) 2.54
| Written by Akim Demaille.
|
| Most of our other systems have autoconf-2.56 or 2.57, and a grep of
| /usr/local/bin/autom4te on them shows the --cache option, but it
| appears to be absent from the 2.54 version.
|
| Thus, it appears that the configure complaint is incorrect: it may
| require autoconf 2.56 or later.
|
| I'm now going to retry builds on those two systems to see if newer
| autoconf versions can be installed.
Hi Nelson,
That's very weird: it looks like an autoconf 2.57 is using an autom4te
2.54. Is that possible? The message is misleading, but from 2.54's
point of view, it was legitimate :)
