It seems that the 'dist' and 'distcheck' targets use either PACKAGE
or PACKAGE_NAME rather than PACKAGE_TARNAME to build tar files. This
is not what is described in Section 4.1 of the Autoconf manual: "The
package tarname differs from package: the latter designates the full
package name (e.g., `GNU Autoconf'), while the former is meant for
distribution tar ball names (e.g., `autoconf')."
