Problem compiling inetutils-1.4.2

I'm getting an error while running configure. The message says to send this 
report to you.
 
I get the error whether I compile as myself, or as root.
 
I'm running Solaris 8:
$ uname -a 
SunOS monitor 5.8 Generic_108528-17 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2
 
I have the following patches installed:
