Bug encountered with autotools during compilation of a program

I had downloaded and was starting to configure a package called JWGC
(beta 5). I got a series of errors that read as follows:

configure: WARNING: resolv.h: accepted by the compiler, rejected by
the preprocessor!
configure: WARNING: resolv.h: proceeding with the preprocessor's result
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------ ##
configure: WARNING: ## Report this to address@hidden ##
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------ ##
checking for resolv.h... no
checking openssl/ssl.h usability... yes
checking openssl/ssl.h presence... no
configure: WARNING: openssl/ssl.h: accepted by the compiler, rejected
by the preprocessor!
configure: WARNING: openssl/ssl.h: proceeding with the preprocessor's result

configure: WARNING: ## Report this to address@hidden ##
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------ ##
checking for openssl/ssl.h... no
..etc..

As instructed, I am reporting this as a bug.

Platform: AMD Athlon 800MHz, slot A (doubt you'll need this, but...)
OS: Slackware Linux distribution 10.0, all tools stock from
installation (though I am planning on upgrading to the 10.1 distro
when I can afford a new motherboard)

Command to configure the script:

$ ./configure --without-x

Attached is the config.log file that it produced.

Thanks for your help, and hopefully this bug report will prove useful
to you. In the mean time, I'm also going to contact the authors of
JWGC and convey the same information, so that they can benefit from
this notice too. For all I know, it could be something that they're
doing wonky in the configure script.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks.
