Ok.  I blew away the earlier patch, (unpacked the 2.60 tarball anew),
and installed this, then...

Thanks for this nugget, Ralf.  Looking good at this point; test 95
now says `ok'.  I'll run the full testsuite again, overnight, just
to be sure.
