Details:

Showing a demo project to a class of students
I've noticed that one of my source files: a.h was
removed after running configure.

Looking at the configure script the culprit seems
to be a section that tries to remove some temporary
files:
 - The list of these files is assigned to $ac_files
 - This list includes a.*
 - Later this list is filtered out of some "protected"
files and suffixes (that's why the file a.c in the
same directory was *not* removed, while a.h was removed).
 - The originating code in autoconf looks like it comes from
   lib/autoconf/lang.m4

Having a configure script remove any source file looks like
a major show stopper to me (better to leave clutter arround
until there is a good solution than to kill anybody who
says Nee ;-)
