Follow-up Comment #2, sr #107240 (project autoconf):

Not quite the autoconf manual, but a very good introduction of all three
autotools (autoconf, automake, and libtool) can be found in the automake
manual:

http://www.gnu.org/software/automake/manual/automake.html#Autotools-Introduction

Rather than duplicate the efforts, maybe it is easier to just add a link in
the autoconf manual to that chapter in the automake manual.  Would you care to
try your hand at submitting a patch?
