[GNU Autoconf 2.68] testsuite: 404 485 failed

Per request in the install script, I'm sending testsuites.dir after make
check turned up two unexpected errors.

Notes:

tried installing shtool (in /etc and then in the autoconf build directory)
but no luck there, same errors

just for the sport, I tried make install, but make installcheck gave the
same errors. This is probably not surprising.


Any suggestions welcome, whether of the "try this" variety or pointers to
potentially useful resources so I can try to figure out what to do next. I'm
running MacOS 10.6.7, if that makes a difference.


 My real goal is to ensure that gtk is up to date, due to a weird issue in
gimp which is apparently gtk-dependent, but an error in the gtk install
script ("The installed version of autoconf does not work") led me to try to
try to bring autoconf up to date (currently version 2.65 is installed).
This may or may not be relevant to you.
