It should be documented.

I suggest changing Autoconf and Libtool to recommend and use just the "$@" form. This is because the shells that mishandled "$@" are now museum pieces and are no longer worth worrying about porting to, whereas the shells that mishandle ${1+"$@"} are still in use.
