Configuration Information [Automatically generated, do not change]:
Machine: i586
OS: cygwin
Compiler: gcc
Compilation CFLAGS:  -DPROGRAM='bash.exe' -DCONF_HOSTTYPE='i586' -DCONF_OSTYPE='cygwin' -DCONF_MACHTYPE='i586-pc-cygwin' -DCONF_VENDOR='pc' -DSHELL -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DPATCH_ARRAY   -I.  -I. -I./include -I./lib -I/usr/include -g -O2
uname output: CYGWIN_98-4.10 V2J1X8 1.1.4(0.26/3/2) 2000-08-03 20:53 i586 unknown
Machine Type: i586-pc-cygwin

Bash Version: 2.04
Patch Level: 0
Release Status: release

Description:
When I try to type the pipeline character on my UK keyboard it ignores it i.e I get nothing. This happens when I use the default key which is "SHIFT \". VIM correctly gets it therefore I can only assume it is some default setting in bash. This also only happens on Windows 98 not NT 4.0 which I also use.

The keyboard setup on Win 98 is:

kyeb uk,,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\keyboard.sysConfiguration Information [Automatically generated, do not change]:
