blinking cursor on the linux console

hi, i am not quite sure if you are the right address to turn to, anyway:

in the mandrake 7.2 linux distribution the cursor is flashy white and
blinking while the rest of the console text is in the pleasant light
grey ...

how do i turn that off?

is there some "console config" apart from the bash config files?
