replace in vi mode

Hi,

I am using bash version 2.04.18(1) with readline 4.1 and have the
following problem:

When I use 'r' (replace) on the last character on any line, the character
is not replaced, but shifted across and the new character simply inserted
instead. It works fine elswhere in the line.
