I rebuilt the bash-2.05b-5.1 rpm on my Red Hat Linux 8.0 system and
(re-)installed it.  It reports the same false error message as the
version delivered with Red Hat Linux 8.0.  This leads me to believe that
one or more of the Red Hat patches to 2.05b has introduced the problem.
