Bug in Prompthandling

Hi, 

I have encounterd some strange behaviour ob bash3 with multiline prompts. 

i have 
PS1="\\n<------ \\D{%a %e. %b %Y %H:%M:%S} ------> \\n\\w\\n\\u@\\h:\\# -> "

The stange thing is that, when I type a longer command the line gets wraped 
long befor the end of the Terminal. But only the first wrap, further wraps
are at the end of the line. 

I Think there is a problem with the length calculation of the prompt. 

I`m using

GNU bash, version 3.00.0(1)-release (i386-portbld-freebsd5.3)
