The problem exists on other systems as well, such as Mac OS X and
Solaris, and I think also HP/UX. Not sure about AIX. It is definitely
not endemic to just GLIBC.
Not that fixing GLIBC wouldn't help, but it's not GLIBC-specific.
Getting bash, grep, sed and gawk fixed will go a long way though. :-)
