Hi, the advice you have quoted above is entirely wrong, and
seems to be completely ignorant of the topic, so I suggest that you
disregard *all* of it.

There are many different communities with different knowledge and
interests, and replies you get can vary in quality depending on who
there happens to notice a request for assistance at any given moment.

You can find a good resource of quality information on shell command
use here:

This (bug-bash) mailing list is intended for actual bug reports, not
maybe-bugs by folks who don't know what they are doing.
If you have questions in future, the best place to ask them is
