Can you please look in the history file, and confirm whether this is
actually the case? It would be helpful to know whether the "noise"
is coming from the .bash_history file, or from a DEBUG trap or
PROMPT_COMMAND or some other configuration that you've set up.
Also, check what "type history" says in the shell where the "noise"
occurs. Let's make sure it's not aliased or something like that.
