configure: error: *** These critical programs are missing or too old: gcc
This is not a problem with autoconf. It is a problem with the configure scripts in whichever directory is being configured when this error occurs. That script is probably only checking for a 3.xx series gcc compiler and is not expecting to see a 4.xx series version of gcc.
from the INSTALL file that autoconf2.53 is compatible , configure script throws an error on this .
This is not the mailing list to ask for help with autoconf. You should try the glibc mailing list (since from what you have said this looks like a glibc configure problem). This list is only for problems with the GNU Binutils such as the linker and the assembler.
I have attached the log file . Please get this done with an highestpriority .
