Hi Philippe,

  Thanks for the bug report and patch.  Unfortunately I do not think that
  it would be a good idea to apply the patch as it will require updating
  a lot of targets, and potentially introduce new bugs.  Since memory leaks
  of this nature are not really a serious issue for the binutils, I do
  not feel that we should apply the patch.  (I do appreciate that the
  patch would help your oss-fuzz work, but I do not feel that that is
  sufficient to justify applying the patch).
