That's also not completely true. If you're talking about US copyright
law, then it's possibly true. Under UK copyright law, the opposite is
true: If copyright is claimed for more than two consecutive years, then
they MUST be specified as a range to be legally valid.

Note that the listed years do not include three consecutive ones, so
this is valid in the UK.
