RE: CVS LOGIN ERROR

Hi All,

I still have the problem of logging in to the CVS server using winCVS client
or any other client.
I checked the server, it is working fine. I checked it through the interface
provided by Debian Linux OS. It shows that the server is activated and it
runs using inetd.conf. My inetd.conf has the following line

"cvspserver stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/bin/cvs
cvs -f --allow-root=/usr/local/cvsrepository pserver" in a single line
itself.

I checked the syslog , for messages from inetd.conf particularly for CVS ,

I found this error at many lines of the log file :

Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: cvspserver/stream: socket: Invalid
argument
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: cvspserver/tcp: bind: Address already in
use
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: auth/tcp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: smtp/tcp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: ftp/tcp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: time/tcp: bind: Address already in use
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: daytime/tcp: bind: Address already in
use
Sep 27 07:49:09 alpha inetd[15198]: discard/tcp: bind: Address already in
use

Why is it giving this error. And why does winCVS or any other client show
the error as "cvs login
cvs [login aborted]: authorization failed: server 66.125.19.74 rejected
access to /usr/local/cvsrepository for user cvsusergroup".

I appreciate your help in advance.

Thanks
Ibrahim

Check your syslog for the DAEMON facility for messages from CVS.
They'll give you more information about what the actual problem is.
