Somehow I got into this situation:
[root@zuul patch-scripts]# cvs -nq update
cvs update: warning: directory CVS specified in argument
cvs update: but CVS uses CVS for its own purposes; skipping CVS directory
Huh?
So, (after much head-scratching) I figured out this:
[scameron@zuul patch-scripts]$ grep CVS CVS/Entries
D/CVS////
Hmm, that doesn't look right, so I fired up vi and
I deleted that line from CVS/Entries, and now it's ok:
[root@zuul patch-scripts]# cvs -nq update
[root@zuul patch-scripts]# cvs version
Client: Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.2 (client/server)
Server: Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.1p1 (client/server)
But, I wonder how that happened though... any ideas?
There did seem to be some interruption in service on the
server side just before this started happenning, so, I
think I aborted a commit in progress, or about to start.
(it was one small change to one file, not a massive commit.)
Just wondering.
