Changing Version in CVS

Hi, 
I have a unique issue, i use CVS to keep track of changes in my
network devices configuration, that is done by a script. I have to do
some clean up because of bug in script and I am left with 10 files but
version number ranging from 1 to 80. Is there a way to change the
version number in CVS? I know about tagging but these are just network
configuration, I am really not interesting in release tag.
