So not to break existing functionality, would it be worth leaving it as
it is but if a trailing slash is present, treat it as the full directory
name rather than a partial directory name...

In other words:
        !MyModule/as

Will exclude MyModule/as and MyModule/asp

But
        !MyModule/as/

Will only exclude MyModule/as

Yes, you missed where I said that the original implementors did *not*
take the simplest approach, they went out of their way to make it work
the way it does.

That said, I'm not opposed to changing it if that's what people want.
